The NX debuts a host of safety features within Lexus Safety System+ including an updated Pre-Collision System (PCS) to help provide heightened protection.

Safety features can be updated through wireless communication using the Data Communication Module (DCM). This Over The Air (OTA) software update technology allows you to keep driving, knowing that your Lexus Safety System+ is the most up to date version, without having to make a trip to your Lexus Dealer — these services are complimentary for the first 3 years of ownership, then subscription applies thereafter.3

When exiting the vehicle, the SEA system uses the sensors of the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) to detect vehicles approaching from behind, including bicycles. If the system determines that there is a possibility of a collision with an open door or an alighting occupant, the indicator in the outer mirror will light up to alert the driver. In addition, if the driver tries to open the door, the system cancels the door opening in cooperation with the e-Latch system. The system notifies the occupants with a buzzer, flashing indicator in the outer mirror and display on the meter.4

INTELLIGENT PARKING ASSIST: lexus teammate

Available on the NX 350h AWD F Sport + Enhancement Pack 2 and NX 350h AWD Sports Luxury + Enhancement Pack 2, Lexus Teammate (Advanced Park) supports parking by utilising the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM) cameras and ultrasonic sensors on the outside of the vehicle. It uses an on-screen display, voice and buzzer to help guide driver operation and support entering and exiting of forward, reverse and reverse parallel parkings. The system supports steering, accelerator, brake and shift operations to help the driver smoothly navigate tricky parking spots. The memory function may also be used to register up to three regularly used parking spaces.4

PKSB uses Intelligent Clearance Sonar (ICS) and Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) radars to help detect static objects in the vehicle's direction of travel, or rear-crossing vehicles. If travelling at low speeds (<15km/h) and the PKSB system detects a collision may occur, it can alert the driver with an audible buzzer. If the driver does not take action to avoid the possible collision, PKSB is designed to help reduce drive force and, if needed, apply brake force to help mitigate damage.4

When the radar and camera sensor determine that a collision is likely, PCS is designed to warn the driver so they can perform evasive manoeuvres, as well as activate the pre-collision brakes if required to help mitigate the impact force. Features now include Emergency Steering Assist, Intersection Assistance when there is a crossing vehicle or when turning right, and Acceleration Suppression when driving at low speeds (<15km/h). PCS also features daytime and night-time pedestrian and cyclist detection, as well as daytime motorcyclist detection.4

PANORAMIC VIEW MONITOR (PVM)

PANORAMIC VIEW MONITOR (PVM)

To help check areas surrounding the vehicle that are difficult to see from the driver's seat, the system shows a bird's-eye view of the vehicle in real time on the 14-inch multimedia display, using a composite image taken by cameras mounted on the front, sides, and rear of the vehicle. Available on F Sport and Sports Luxury grades.4

When switched from optical to Digital Rear-view Mirror mode, displayed images appear from the backup camera at the rear of the vehicle on the in-mirror display. The Digital Rear-view Mirror provides a wide field of view, unobstructed by headrests or passengers’ heads. Available on the NX 450h+, NX 350h AWD F Sport + Enhancement Pack 2, NX 350 F Sport + Enhancement Pack 2 and NX 350h Sports Luxury grades.4

DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC)

DYNAMIC RADAR CRUISE CONTROL (DRCC)

In addition to maintaining a constant speed, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) uses the radar and camera sensors to detect a vehicle driving ahead and is designed to help the driver maintain an appropriate distance between vehicles, including if a vehicle cuts in front at close distance. DRCC means the vehicle is also capable of low speed stop-start driving at speeds between 0 and approximately 30km/h — helping to reduce the burden on the driver who may be navigating congested traffic. If the driver becomes unable to operate the vehicle and steering wheel pressure is not detected, the Emergency Driving Stop System may activate while DRCC and LTA are engaged — slowing the vehicle to a stop within the lane, and warning other vehicles around them in order to reduce the risk of an accident. The driver's status is judged by the system as an 'emergency' if there is no driver operations (steering, accelerator or brake) performed within a set time. DRCC is seamlessly operable for the driver via switches on the steering wheel.4

Lane Departure Alert (LDA) alerts the driver via a noise or steering wheel vibration when there is a possibility of the vehicle’s deviation from its lane or road. When driving on highways or roads with white lines and when DRCC is in use, the LTA system is designed to partially assist the driver's steering operation to help avoid lane or road departure. LTA is also designed to track the preceding vehicle, even if it's difficult to detect the lane's edge lines.4

ADAPTIVE HIGH-BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)

ADAPTIVE HIGH-BEAM SYSTEM (AHS)

Adaptive High-beam System (AHS) works for excellent night-time driving safety. The system uses a camera behind the windshield glass, to detect light from vehicles in front and smoothly illuminate the road ahead. AHS is designed to automatically adjust the headlamp light distribution to reduce impact of high beams illuminating oncoming or preceding vehicles. Available on F Sport and Sports Luxury grade.4
